  The Kite Runner ~Khaled Hosseini Shattering, Devastating and Inspiring “It may be unfair, but what happens in a few days, sometimes even a single day, can change the course of a whole lifetime...” ~ Baba to Amir The above quote is my favorite due to its naked truth - A single truth and lie can change out entire life. It is a very emotional story about friendship, struggle, betrayal and truth. The first chapter opens with Amir reminiscing about his life before the dreadful Afghanistan war. He carries heavy burden due to his unatoned sins.  The book starts in Afghanistan in the 1970s, before the Soviet invasion, and later moves to the U.S. before circling back to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.  Amir is the Protagonist and the narrator of the novel. He is the son of a wealthy merchant who lived a lavish childhood. Amir is an avid reader and a sensitive young boy who is not athletic like Hassan. He lost his mother at birth, which left him growing up with a sense of emptine...

It is an another amazing book by the author of the novel The Martian which has been adapted into an Oscar-nominated film by the same name,  directed by Ridley Scott .
